VIP Lounge in Boracay Discriminates Pinoy Travellers, Allowing Only Koreans

Trending on Facebook today is the story of a soldier who gets discriminated by a VIP Lounge in Kalibo who only accepts Korean guests.

Here's the story as told on the Facebook account of Phoenix Rising / Jay Delgado

Calling All Filipinos and the Government. At 10pm of January 1, 2016 I was refused to check-in and avail the VIP Lounge of Discovery Boracay an Airport Lounge in Kalibo International Airport that cost Php300 saying they only accept South Koreans.

I am to avail of the service because my flight is at 5am going to Cebu. In photos below, I approached the lady Filipina Staff at the cashier where inquiries and payment are made.

Me: Ms I'd like to use the VIP Lounge.
Lady Staff: Naku sir sa ngayon sa mga Koreans lang po nila inooffer ang lounge.
Me: Are you serious? Bakit sa kanila lang?
Lady Staff: Korean po kasi ang may ari sir.
Me: First time ko yata makaranas ng discrimination sa sarili kong bansa at sinasabi mo yan sa kapwa mo Pilipino.
Lady Staff: Sir sandali po magtanong muna ako (she looked for her supervisor then dumating sa counter ang koreano)
Lady Staff: Sir a Filipino would like to check-in.
Korean Supervisor: No Filipino! No Filipino!

I was pissed off gusto kong kunan ng video na sabihin ng staff na for Koreans only but this time:

Lady Staff: Sir ang sabi ko po Fully Booked kami then ayaw nakong pansinin.

I went outside naghanap ng makainan, I told the story sa may ari ng Carenderia, he advised me sir isumbong mo sa Pulis.

So I seek the help of PNP personnel in Kalibo Airport. They responded and escorted me to talked with the Manager. The manager apologized to me and said the lady staff made an error. They accept everyone eregardless of Nationality. He offered me free stay, i declined. I told him you have to remember during Korean War, Filipinos fought on the side of South Koreans then you will just discriminate me.

I asked him what would he feel if the same incident will happen to him back in his own country. He apologize but seems to be sarcastic. I left with the Police. Upon returning to the Carenderia to eat my ordered food, somebody was yelling Kuya! Kuya! The manager chased me, I stopped. He handed me my Insurance ID that I left. He again apologized saying he was a soldier before in Korea and he appreciates Filipinos. I again told him I was very offended because I said some of our countrymen maybe poor, but we have a bigger heart. Proof to this is our acceptance on the surge of South Koreans in the Philippines but didnt realized that Koreans do discriminate Filipinos. He this time offered me free food. I declined and said I cannot be bribe, sorry, but I value my being a Filipino specially in my homeland.

I am Ryan Layug, a soldier, a Filipino, I am returning to duty in Mindanao after my New Year's Leave. I am a bit worried that I might be reprimanded of this post but as a soldier I defend democracy, and I will defend my fellow Filipinos on the face of discrimination. this country has no room for Discrimination. I am not convinced of the Manager. I heard with my ears the Supervisor: No Filipinos! No Filipinos! Besides, almost half of the seats at the lounge were empty (but they said ita fully booked) I pity the lady staff, she has to decline Filipinos because she has to retain her job. I call the LGUs, DTI and DFA please conduct further investigation and surveillance on the same hotel and other hotels in the Philippines. Calling my Compatriots, if you love your race and your country, the Philippines and is against discrimination, share this post to your wall. ‪#‎stoppinoydiscrimination‬

It's sad that this is happening in our own soil, in Boracay no less. Then if you check the comments section, you'll see tons of confirming stories and similar situations.

Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli Arrested for Fraud

Remember Martin Shkreli, the CEO who became the most-hated man in America for jacking the prices of generic lifesaving medicinal drugs? Well, karna is a bitch as he's been arrested by the FBI for serious cases of securities fraud.

Shkreli gained notoriety after his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals jacked or increased the prices of lifesaving drugs from basic $13.50 to a whooping $750.  The story goes that Turing Pharmaceuticals bought the rights to the drug called "Daraprim" which was used to treat toxoplasmosis and malaria. Before acquisition, Daraprim's price was said to be $13.50 per pill but the moment Shkreli and Turing got its hands on it, it was increased to $750

Just hours ago though, he was accused of taking funds from a biotech company he started (but was later kicked out of) to pay debts from another business. According to sources, the company that he allegedly stole from, Retrophin, filed an earlier case against the CEO last August. This time however, they had the evidence needed as Shkreli lost more than $7 million on the hedge fund business he did back in 2011.

This is also Shkreli's third arrest in a four-month time span.

Aside from notoriety for being a real world troll, Shkreli also angered fans as he was responsible for the non-release of a supposed new Wu-Tang Clan album entitled Once Upon a Time in Shaolin which only had one album produced. The highly-anticipated album was won by Shkreli in a bidding where the winner gets to do whatever he / she / it wants with it.

Apparently, Shkreli doesn't know the meaning of the word "share" and the album is still under his protection at the moment.

UP Student Wears Christmas Lights for Final Exams, Gets Bonus Points

Trending on social media is a post shared on Narinig ko sa UP (Overheard at UP) about this student who takes on his professor's challenge of turning up with the wackiest Christmas costume for the finals.

The poster shares:

P.S. Sa mga nag-aalala, she was completely safe po. Sinigurado niya and ni prof na safe yung ginagawa niya. And di naman naka-on yung lights the entire exam hahaha[Our professor told us that he will give bonus points to the previous scores of students who will wear wacky costumes on the day of the finals exam. It was our professor’s special request to wear Christmas-related costumes, that’s why this is what my classmate wore. She really had to sit near the electrical outlet (to light up her costume). She really had to risk her life just to get the bonus points. P.S. To those who are worried, she was completely safe. Our professor and my classmate made sure that what she dis was safe. And the lights were not lit during the entire duration of the exam.

Gab Valenciano Comments on Duterte, Supporters Hit Back Hard

Trending on social media today is the story of celebrity Gab Valenciano who speaks out on why he won't be voting presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte due to his morals.

This new celebrity versus celebrity thing started when Gab Valenciano posted this on his Facebook timeline.

The next day, December 8, Mr. Valenciano goes through another round of tete-a-tete on social media this time regarding Celebrities endorsing a particular politician especially during election. He was given the 'make a stand' card and this was his response.

Yesterday, December 9, Gab Valenciano once again goes online and shares this message after getting hit with vicious comments by people on Facebook as well as thru comments generated from various blogs and websites.

MORALIST OR PRESIDENT?
(My reaction to Gab Valenciano's FB post )
Many anti-Duterte focus on the issue of morality. But the real question is - do we need a good role model or a capable President? Simple lang naman po ito, our country is so sick and we need a good doctor to help us. And here come the moralists questioning the doctor's righteousness and morality? Shouldn't we be more concerned about the doctor's experience and capability to treat disease and illness? Now do you get my point? If you want a morally "righteous" leader then let's vote for the priests and the religious people. Now how do you catch drug pushers? How do you pursue corrupt policemen and politicians? How do you put an end to the LAGLAG BALA syndicate? Call the priests?Morality should not be the deciding factor in choosing our next president. MORAL STANDARDS mean different things to different people according to their belief. What is morally right to you might be morally wrong to me, and what is morally wrong to you might be morally right to me.
Mr. GAB VALENCIANO, I remember you posted a few months ago on your FB that you "don't owe it (Philippines) a thing" and now here you are tweeting your sentiments toward our country - "how socially uneducated the country has become. What has happened to my fellow countrymen? It’s so sad". (@gabvalenciano twitter)
Wala ka namang alam sa tunay na kalagayan na mga Pilipino because you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and you are not even here. You don't know what's really happening in our streets. Our country is radically ill and we need a radical leader to create radical change. We need a leader who's willing to sacrfice himself for the sake of his country.
Eto ang tanong, ano ba ang kailangan natin MORALISTA O PRESIDENTE?
"I do not care if I burn in hell for as long as the people I serve live in paradise" - Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte.

Woman Humiliates Guy with Chivalry is Dead, Gets Called out Instead

Trending on social media today is a story of a girl who goes online to humiliate a guy with the "chivalry is dead" card only to be called out by a famous Facebook page for being an asshole.

The story goes that a certain lady named Paolo Kristal Gardon went online and posted a photo of a hapless dude who was seated in the MRT. In the caption, she states proceeds to humiliate the unwitting guy calling him UNATTRACTIVE and a NON-GENTLEMAN.

So what's the big deal? Apparently she wanted this guy to offer up his seat at the MRT but probably got the cold shoulder, which is understandable because its his seat to give. This lady though thinks that it is her right to be offered a seat EVERYTIME which is why she made the costly mistake of ranting about this on Facebook.

What was the fallout from her post? The Senyora Santibanez Facebook fanpage picked up the story and went on to give this lady a sound trashing.

I wonder how this will pan out?

We'd love to comment but its not our place to do so as we just deliver the hottest trending news in the Philippines.
